몇십년만의 겨울철 강우로 Southern California의 사막들이 꿈틀대고있었습니다. 이번 Indian Cove Camping Trip은 Joshua Tree National Park의 풍성한 야생화로 한결 즐거웠습니다.
저희는 Cottonwood Entrance로 통해 들어온후 Pinto Basin Rd.로 서쪽으로 움직여, Skull Rock을 거쳐, Ryan Mountain을 hike한후 Park Rd.로 되돌아 Indian Cove CG로 들어갔습니다. 아침 6:30에 출발해 4:00PM에 Indian Cove CG에 도착했지요.
특히 Park의 동쪽에 위치한 Cottonwood Spring부터 Pinto Basin을 거쳐 Wilson Canyon까지의 Sonoran Desert 섭생의 온 들판이 기가 막혔답니다. 남쪽 Anza-Borrego Desert의 wildflowers가 peak을 지나고있지만, 이곳은 앞으로 2-3주간 Super Bloom이 유지될것같더군요.

Both side hills of Wilson Canyon were filled with variety of wildflowers. Most of them are really tiny.

Also abundant Blackbrushes, Coleogyne Ramosissima(Rosaceae), which are waiting for yellow-red bloom.

After 1.4 miles, reached the summit where we could see San Jacinto & San Gorgonio together.

Boss들의 모임. "오늘 저녁은 뭐부터 할까요?"
갈비찜, 매운제육복음, 닭다리볶음, 그리고 Zuccini입니다~~~.
물고, 뜯고, 씹고, 쪽쪽빨아야만했던 캠핑의 첫 meal이었습니다.
그리곤 Coffee와 와인으로 입가심 한후, Camp Fire...
화력이 대단하더군요. 옆에서 데워진 자색 군고구마의 쫀득한 식감과 깊은 맛에 더이상 말이 필요치 않았지요.
곧이어, Stereo로 (두분이 동시에 play) 터져 나오는 Bluetooth 음악들 사이로, 어느새 어두움이 찿아왔습니다.
한 Speaker에선 정태춘이 조곤조곤 속삭이던군요. “소리없이 어둠이 내리고, 길손처럼 또 밤이 찾아오면~~~”,
도 다른 Speaker에선, 금잔디의 "일편단심"이었나요?
우리의 귀가 두개라 망정이지, 정신줄 놓을뻔(?) 했습니다, ㅎㅎㅎ
